I started my blog 4 years ago, and this year is the first year I’ve done it full time. I get a lot of questions as to why I started, and ”what do you get from blogging”, so I thought I’d do a blog post on why to start one!
Why did I start?
I was 18 and decided one day in Superdrug of all places to grab cheap beauty products and review them. At that time I was obsessed with, and do still love, Zoe Sugg (Zoella) and Louise Pentland (Sprinkle Of Glitter). I thought if they could do it, I could do it. I sat down one night in January and put up my first blog post, it was awful, honestly.. the worst, but I still put it up. Back then I thought I would get all these views and followers, and be huge, but it doesn’t work like that. It takes determination and hard work and not giving up. And I think in that year I only put up 4 blog posts, but even though it was 4, it was 4 posts I loved doing, and I was determined when I had more time, to do it full time. Now in 2016, I’m the busiest I’ve ever been with work, and I knew if I didn’t do it now, I never would. I’m so happy with where my blogging is going and all the new friends I’ve made, I’m glad I took it on when I did!
What do you get from blogging?
You meet the most amazing people through blogging. If I hadn’t joined blogger chat’s on twitter and plucked up the courage to make my blog public to not just other bloggers but people who I know, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s honestly the best feeling ever chatting to others who get why you blog, and has the same passion in blogging as you do. Not everyone gets blogging and I totally get that, but when you sit and speak to bloggers, you can meet people who you are totally on the same level with and share the same interests. Also, you can go to blogger meet ups and events. I haven’t yet been to one, but next year I am definitely saving to go to a few, and meet the wonderful people I’ve made friends with so far!
Why should you start?
Blogs aren’t just for sharing your interests, showing of things you’ve bought or even posts like this one. You can blog to blow of some steam, if you want to make an anonymous blog for doing that, go for it! Blogging is relaxing, and taking photographs for your blog is exciting, you can go out and take photos or stay in and find different ways to make your photos stand out. It’s fun, and a great hobby to start! Since I’ve started blogging some of my friends have to, and it’s exciting as you get to share that experience of blogging together and watch each other’s audience grow each day. People start a blog for different reasons, it could be a hobby, career or just boredom, but it can bring you amazing opportunities.
In the comments below let me know why you started, and what do you get from it?
