When the clock hit midnight, and the fireworks and boat horns sounded, I was glad that 2016 was over with. It was honestly such a relieve to say goodbye to a really bad year, and start a complete fresh in 2017. It’s funny how a new day in a different year has that impact on people, like they are completely ready to start achieving new things, all because it’s hit a new year.
In 6 months I achieved the goals I was setting myself to smash over a couple of years, so when I hit those goals and then some, it really showed me how powerful the blogging community is these days! I’m not giving up yet though, I am setting myself some new goals for this year, and I thought I’d share them with you.
It’s not that I’m not organised with blogging, I’d say blogging is the only thing I am organised with in my life, but last year if I couldn’t think of content to post up, I’d miss a day, which would lead to another, and another. I don’t want to miss any days this year, which is a massive goal to have, as sometimes having a busy schedule outside of blogging can be tough, but I want to plan blogs well in advance, and have them scheduled to go up on the correct day. I have bought myself a blogging planner and a diary, so here is hoping with planning blogs, writing them in advance and making sure they go up on the days I post ( Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) I can achieve this no bother!
I can hold my hands up now and say, I am very lazy when it comes to taking photographs for my blog. I sit and envy the lovely photos I see other bloggers put up, but when it comes to my photos no matter how many times I say I’ll make more of an effort, I never do. So, this month I am buying myself a new camera, the camera I have always wanted, to try and take better photos, and consternate on my youtube channel as well. I am even reading a lot more blogs based on photography to gets tips on how to achieve better photos for my blog.
I tend to advertise a lot anyway, when it comes to my blog post, but I feel like I don’t advertise enough! I usually just tend to put up on my twitter the post I have put up for that day, once and then leave it at that. So, I am making more of an effort now to use my pinterest for my blog posts, and Instagram. I get most of my traffic surprisingly, through Instagram, so I really need to make more of an effort and share it across there more than I am doing already. I am definitely going to be checking out more ways too, as I am so passionate about blogging at the moment.
Since blogging my writing skills have really improved. I used to be terrible, and now I am learning more about punctuation and spelling than I ever really did in school. I still have a lot more room to improve though, and definitely need to thoroughly look over my spelling once I’ve finished a blog. I can be quite lazy at that, and it’s not until I look back at posts from just a few weeks ago, I kick myself that I never noticed that apostrophe I missed, or capital letter.
I want to change the look of my blog in the next few months. I have found a layout I am in love with, but everything costs money these days, so I am going to probably end up buying when I know I can afford to. I also, really want to change my header of my blog, and eventually my name. I chose ‘Karina Hearts…’ in a mad rush to get stuck straight into blogging, and now I have, I just am not loving it that much anymore. There is however, confusing people, and changing my name from one thing, to the other. So I need to take that into consideration too.
What blog goals are you setting yourself this year? I’d love to know in the comments below, and also any tips you have!
