‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ – Paige Toon | Book Review

It’s no secret that Paige Toon is my favourite author, and I spend most my money each month buying her books! So, when I went into Waterstones before a shift at work and couldn’t find any Paige Toon books I hadn’t read, I was slightly sad, until I went to the young adults section and found ‘I knew you were trouble’. I didn’t even look to see what it was about I instantly grabbed it and payed!

This book is the second out of three (there might be more out soon, I’m not 100% sure) and I never realised there was a book before this and after, until I finished it! Sometimes being in a mad rush in a book store can be a bit of a nightmare especially since I missed the whole chapter of ‘Jessie Jeffersons’ life before her famous Dad, which I was a little bit gutted about when I found out, but it just means I can read that book next and then move onto the book after, so it’s not really that much of a big deal!

This story is about a 15 year old girl called Jessie Jefferson who found out her Dad was famous, and gets sucked into his famous life in LA. However, her secret life is very much secret from her school friends and she gets landed with two hot boys chasing her. Will she pick Tom or Jack?

Ok, so the story line is gripping. As soon as I picked up this book I couldn’t stop reading! I obviously never knew there was a book before this, so it would of been a lot more clear to me what she was up to in LA if I had read ‘The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson’ before hand, as she does mention a few time about being in LA in the summer holidays, so I think if I read the first book I’d of been a lot more clearer of the story plot, but obviously that is my own fault, oops!

At the start of this book it tells us of her going back to school after her mad summer in LA with her famous Dad and attending famous LA parties, and how she and her ex-best friend Libby aren’t close anymore. She meets Lou who is the new girl at school and they become friends pretty much straight away, I kinda fall in love with their friendship as it really remind me of my friendship with my best friend Louise, on how they’d sit and chat about boys.

Then it gets into the Tom storyline, oh Tom, how I fell in love with your character! It must be a Tom thing, as I am obsessed with Mcfly’s Tom Fletcher, Tom Hardy and found a few other Toms hot in my life growing up to, weird I know. I instantly fell in love with Tom and Jessie and Tom’s relationship together, but there was something about the way she spoke about Jack that made me so intrigued by him! If I had to pick a ‘Team Tom’ or ‘Team Jack’ it would of definitely been ‘Team Tom’!

This book is just such a whirlwind of emotions and there was points I’d sit in shock as I read, having to read on about what happened next. Definitely start reading the Jessie Jefferson series as it’s absolutely fantastic! Just remember thought don’t be silly like me, and buy the first book before you start ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ as it’ll all become so much more clearer to you!
